CA Foundation Alleviates Over $3.3 Million in Medical Debt for Minnesotans

Today the CA Foundation announced it has paid off over $3.3 million in medical debt of over 3,700 Minnesotans through RIP Medical Debt. Read the full release here.

As of 2022, about 2% of Minnesotans had medical debt in collections, and the disparity for those of color was double.

Jeff Smedsrud, managing director of the CA Foundation, noted that his goal is to help make Minnesota the first ‘medical-debt-free state.’

The CA Foundation donated $2 million to RIP Medical Debt in 2020.
